Cloviss Board

Cloviss Board quadrant segments.

Cloviss is a popular board game around Asoumiranz. It has been around since the 29,700's, but of course the rules have evolved quite a bit since then.

It was first invented in Trod, and traditionally the game pieces were carved out of bones from various animals, typically Guffs. Nowadays the pieces are made from plastic for the cheaper sets, and carved from wood in the nicer, more expensive sets.

The plastic pieces, like most plastic goods, are manufactured in Plastic City's great plastic factories. The best wooden pieces are carved by the Woodsmiths of Shadow's End, but cheaper, yet still quite nice, wooden sets are carved by carpenters in the Great Elder Villages. There is also a variant of Cloviss called Ancloviss which is played in Forumia and Saxophore.

Cloviss Boards are made up of four 6 x 6 quadrants per game, chosen at random. Each player controls two quadrants. Different coloured quadrants have different pieces with different abilities.

A jovaphile is word for a person who enjoys board or card games, such as Cloviss or Gai Shi No.
