AGRA scientists overseeing an experiment

AGRA, or the Asoumiranz Geometron Research Agency, is the cutting edge of science in Asoumiranz. The organization is based in a suburb of Drest at the foot of the Brown Mountain called Gavna.

Etymology[]

No one is sure of the origin of this name, as it is gibberish in all known Asoumiranz languages. However, top scientists agree that AGRA has a nice ring to it.

History[]

AGRA was founded on an unknown date as a secret weapons research organization by the countries of Djornt, Felure, Zanlos and Samir. Over time, more countries were allowed to join the organization, such as Korrick and Trod. Now, almost all countries of Asoumiranz participate in scientific research at the AGRA headquarters in Gavna.

Modern Research[]

After cylindrons were discovered, AGRA became more focused on geometron research. The famous geometron accelerator attempts to spot new geometrons by colliding pieces of space rocks at extremely high speeds. Ongoing research includes studying a potential link between Conics and theoretical geometrons known as coneons. So far, no link has been proven to exist.

Otherworld Wide Web[]

One major breakthrough in AGRA research is the Otherworld Wide Web. This is a huge network of "websites" that provide access to lots of information and allows for people to communicate with others who are using the OWW. So far, this service is limited to governments and top universities. It is speculated that if this service were to be released to the public, people would waste their time looking at pictures of cute Sea Cats and working with others to create huge fantasy worlds. The OWW is described by a Troddite scientist as "not a big chariot, but a series of cylinders".

Misconceptions[]

It is a common misconception that AGRA only focuses on science and calculisc. Many of AGRA's over 1,000 scientists are very athletic. In 33,962, in order to combat work-related stress, AGRA opened a recreational area next to AGRA facilities. After noticing the athletic ability of the scientists, AGRA leaders established the AGRA Crunkett team, the AGRA Cylindrons. Despite predictions claiming otherwise, the Gavna-based team of scientists played spectacularly. This was particularly displayed by Cnoniak Ljabij, a Natqan scientist that dominated Crunkett fields for 8 consecutive seasons. Due to their proximity, the Cylindrons and the Drest City Blitts share a stadium and have an intense rivalry. One Blitt-Cylindron game takes place every year, and it is named the Brown Bowl after the Brown Mountain. So far, the Blitts have the most Brown Bowl wins. The Napalm Drummers also share a rivalry with the Blitts and the Cylindrons. Every other year there is a tournament called the Triangle Tourney, in which the Cylindrons, Blitts, and Napalm Drummers compete for the Triangle Cup. As a tradition, whenever AGRA wins a Triangle Cup, scientists throw the trophy into the geometron accelerator and watch it explode just for fun.
