Since it is common knowledge and well established fact that most people leave behind spirits after death in Otherworld, dying isn't a terrifying unknown or nihilistic dead end; at least, not for species with complex souls. However, death is still feared by many, and for good reason. Sometimes called the "second puberty" or "the post-life crisis", the transition from living human to spirit being is not generally pleasant or easy. It is well known that spirits can have drastic personality changes post mortem. Although it is difficult to describe in words, it's also true that a living being and its spirit remnant have different ways of perceiving the world around them. Perception as an organic and perception as a spirit each have pros and cons, which may vary even between different types of organic or spirit.
